Will my car fit in my garage?
Enter your garage’s inside size and the door opening. We check 1,614 cars and tell you which fit comfortably, which fit but are tight to get out of, and which won’t fit.
How we work it out
- Fits comfortably: at least 60 cm longer than the car (room to walk round and close the door) and at least 60 cm wider than the car including mirrors (room to open a door and get out), and the car goes through the door with its mirrors out.
- Fits, but tight: at least 20 cm spare in length and 10 cm in width, and it goes through the door (possibly with mirrors folded) — expect to squeeze out, or get out before you drive in.
- Doesn’t fit: too long, too wide, or it can’t get through the door (width with mirrors folded + 5 cm, or height + 5 cm).
- Where we don’t have a width-including-mirrors figure, we add 20 cm to the body width. A typical UK single garage is about 4.8 × 2.4 m inside with a 7 ft × 6 ft 6 in (213 × 198 cm) up-and-over door, but older garages are often smaller — always measure.
- For guidance only: dimensions vary by trim, wheels and roof rails, and things stored in the garage take space too. See our disclaimer.
